Owner of New Southington Gourmet Jerky Shop Promises A Softer Product That Doesn't 'Rip Your Teeth Out'

The grand opening of Mr. B's Jerky Co. is scheduled for Saturday.

SOUTHINGON, CT - A gourmet jerky shop whose owner and chef promises not to "rip out your teeth," is coming to 35 Main St. in Southington.

The grand opening for Mr. B's Jerky Co. is scheduled for Saturday, owner and "master jerk" chef Dan Baril said on Friday. The shop will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Baril staged a soft opening for the Chamber of Commerce on Thursday and came away with good reviews.

"I started making jerky over 20 years ago, and have always enjoyed coming up with new and interesting flavors," he said. "We pride ourselves on being different. Our jerkies are very flavorful, and not your typical "rip-your-teeth-out" jerky. They're made freshly by hand, with only the finest cuts of meat."

He also said fresh matters.

"We've also cut back on the sodium, so you can really taste the flavor. We don't put a bunch of inedible stuff into our product to make it last forever. That means our jerky is meant to be enjoyed within a few weeks."

He said customers can also sample the flavors before buying.

"You will not have to take a gamble on it before leaving the store," he said.
