Pedestrian Struck By Motor Vehicle In Bristol: Police

The victim was transported via helicopter to an area hospital, according to police.

BRISTOL, CT — A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle Monday morning on Burlington Avenue, police said.

Lt. Ulric Berube said police were summoned to the accident, which happened in the vicinity of Henderson Street, around 8:21 a.m.

When police arrived, they found the male driver assisting the male pedestrian, who was lying in the roadway on Burlington Avenue, police said.

Officers immediately began lifesaving measures, then emergency personnel arrived and took over. The pedestrian was transported via Life Star helicopter to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury.

Police identified the pedestrian as a 36-year-old Torrington man. His condition as of late afternoon Monday was not available.

According to police, the driver, a 73-year-old male, remained on scene and was cooperative with investigators.

Bristol’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team, or START, responded to the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
