Police Searching For Bandit Who Robbed Southington Bank

A robber made off with cash after holding up a Southington bank Friday.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A brazen bandit ran away with cash in a lunchtime bank robbery in Southington Friday.

The robbery was reported at 12:15 p.m. at the TD Bank, 121 Main St., Southington.

SPD patrol officers and detective were at the scene into the early afternoon hours. Conflicting witness accounts describe the bandit as either white, Hispanic or Middle Eastern, police said.

The man entered the bank and displayed a note to the teller and no weapon was displayed, police said.

The man was able to get away with an undisclosed amount of cash and was last seen heading north on foot, behind town hall.

Police continued to search for the man Friday afternoon.

During the initial phases of the investigation, as a precaution, Derynoski Elementary, Alta, and the YMCA Learning Center were all placed in secure school mode, police said.
