Police: Southington Man Charged With Larceny

He surrendered to authorities as part of a November investigation, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT - Southington police on Monday announced a theft-related arrest from a case traced back to November.

Robert Crotty, 43, of Southington, surrendered at police headquarters after learning there was an active warrant for his arrest, according to a news release.

Crotty was charged with fourth-degree larceny and posted a $10,000 court set surety bond, according to a news release.

The arrest warrant in the case alleges that, in late November, Crotty took money from a resident the to buy vehicle parts and to install the parts on the victim's vehicle.

Crotty purchased the parts, but never installed them on the vehicle, nor did he give the parts to the victim, according to the warrant.

The warrant further states that Crotty stole a demolition saw and video surveillance equipment from the same victim.

The value of the property was in excess of $1000 and one of the property that was reported missing was located during the investigation, police said.
