As Practice Opens, a Look at Southington Fall State Championships

The first official day of practice for fall sports is Aug. 25; Patch looks back at state titles won by Southington teams in autumns past.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Thursday marks the official opening of practice for fall high school sports, and the first day gives every team hope and optimism that perhaps a state championship is in the cards.

A total of six Southington teams have captured state titles in fall sports in the past:

  • football (3): 2014 (LL-large), 2013 (LL), 1998 (LL)
  • girls volleyball (1): 2009 (LL)
  • girls soccer (1): 2002 (LL)
  • boys cross country (1): 1984 (LL/State Open)
