Program explores innovative treatments, exercise for Parkinson's

Hospital for Special Care program explores roles of integrative treatments and exercise for Parkinson's disease at May 16 event

NEW BRITAIN – Hospital for Special Care is presenting, “Current Concepts in Integrative Treatments and Exercise for Parkinson’s Disease,” on Wednesday, May 16, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Topics will include innovative treatments and the role of exercise in treating and managing Parkinson’s disease. This free program will be held at Hospital for Special Care, 2150 Corbin Ave., in the Howey Conference Center on the lower level. The educational event is open to the public, particularly those with Parkinson’s disease, family members and caregivers.

Presenters will include Adam Simmons, MD, and J. Antonelle de Marcaida, MD. Simmons, who is board certified in neurology and integrative holistic medicine, is a movement disorders specialist with the Department of Neuromuscular Medicine and director of the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center at Hospital for Special Care. De Marcaida, a board-certified neurologist, is the medical director of Chase Family Movement Disorders Center, Ayer Neuroscience Institute, Hartford HealthCare.
