Questions Over Denny's Check Leads Southington Cops to Stolen Car

SOUTHINGTON, CT - Police were called to the Queen Street Denny's Wednesday morning because the restaurant staff was afraid two people from Georgia were going to skip out on a tab.

It turns out, the man and woman skipped into the state in a stolen car, police said.

On Wednesday at 10:50 a.m., officers arrested Robert Brock, 34, of Barnesville, GA. and Christina Brock, 27 of Milner, GA., police said.

Both were charged with third-degree larceny sixth-degree larceny, police said.

A bond of $50,000.00 was placed on the third-degree larceny charges a bond of $500 was set on the sixth-degree larceny charges, police said.

Neither was able to post bond and both were held and taken to court, police said. They were to be arraigned Wednesday, police said.

Officers were initially dispatched to the Denny’s at 621 Queen St., after employees became suspicious that the Brocks were unable to pay for the meals they had ordered and eaten.

Officers found Christina Brock walking away from the restaurant and she said she was going to her vehicle to get money or a credit card to pay for the food, police said.

Officers found Robert Brock still inside the restaurant and he offered the same story as Christina Brock.

Officers escorted Robert Brock to the vehicle, which was parked on Interstate Drive, police said.

While Robert Brock was looking for the money inside his vehicle, Officers looked up the license plate, which was stored inside the vehicle, and they discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen out of the Monroe County Sherriff’s Office in Georgia, according to a police report.

That was confirmed with the Sherriff’s Office and both Brocks were taken into custody, police said. After checking the vehicle, there was no money in it to pay the bill at Denny's, police said.

The stolen vehicle is a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix valued at $5,000, police said.

The meal check totaled $28.96, police said.
