
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington police have released a report on a five-car crash that took place on Friday.
On Friday at 4:42 p.m., Southington police, Southington firefighter, and AMR Ambulance responded to
a five-car motor vehicle collision on Main St. in the area of Berlin Avenue, according to a report.

An investigation revealed that a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze, operated by Beverly Granniss, 84, of Southington was
northbound on Main Street, according to a report. Traffic ahead of Granniss came to a stop at the intersection of Berlin Avenue, but Granniss was not able to stop her vehicle and swerved to the right, accordinmg to a report .
As she did so, her vehicle contacted the right rear of a vehicle stopped in a line of traffic, according to a report. Grannis then continued off the road and onto the sidewalk in front of 121 Main St., where she struck some shrubs before continuing across the intersection of Berlin Ave., police said The vehicle went back onto the sidewalk in front of 75 Main St. before reentering the roadway and striking the rear of a third vehicle, that
was stopped in a line of traffic, police said.

The third vehicle was pushed into a fourth vehicle that was stopped in front of it, which was pushed forward into a fifth vehicle, police said.
As a result of this incident five people were transported to area hospitals by ambulance for treatment of injuries.
Three vehicles were towed from the scene due to disabling damage, police said.
Granniss was issued an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart and failure to drive in
the proper lane.
