Responders To Fill Ambulance With Food For Southington's Food Bank
AMR is hosting a 'fill-an-ambulance' event at ShopRite in Southington Saturday, March 29, for the town's community services department.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Volunteers with an area ambulance provider will be out at a Southington supermarket to "fill an ambulance" full of food donations for Southington Community Services.
On Saturday, March 29, first responders from American Medical Response (AMR) Waterbury will volunteer their time to collect food donations from shoppers at the Southington ShopRite, 750 Queen St.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the store.
"Their goal is to fill an entire ambulance with donations, which will then be delivered to Southington Community Services for distribution to those in need within the local community," wrote AMR in a release Friday.

Food donations typically dwindle after the large holiday rush, despite the need increasing, inspiring AMR to help.
Some of the most needed items include breakfast cereal, canned vegetables and fruit, Chef Boyardee or canned ravioli, rice and side dish items, as well as children’s snacks.
As a thank-you, AMR will be offering a free "File of Life" kit, a fridge magnet designed to hold important medical information for emergency medical services in case of an emergency.
