Scam Artists Target Southington Apple Harvest Festival
Festival organizers are warning businesses about scammers selling fake vendor spots and seeking payments through apps.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington Apple Harvest Festival organizers are warning local businesses and vendors about scammers who are offering fake spots at the popular annual event and seeking payments through unofficial channels.
Festival organizers said all official vendor, performer, and booth applications are currently closed.
"We have been made aware of scammers targeting local businesses and vendors by offering fake spots, requesting payment via Zelle, Venmo, or unofficial links," organizers said in a social media warning.

The festival said it does not solicit applications or payments through direct messages or personal accounts.
Organizers also urged prospective vendors to verify links before providing information or making payments, saying official communications will come only through the festival's verified website and official channels.

Anyone claiming to have an "available spot" for sale should be considered a scammer, organizers said.
Festival officials are asking community members to share the warning to help prevent local businesses and vendors from becoming victims.
The warning comes ahead of the 2026 Southington Apple Harvest Festival, which will be held over two weekends: Oct. 2-4 and Oct. 9-11.
The six-day annual festival takes place around the Southington Town Green and features food, live entertainment, vendors, shopping, and activities for families and visitors of all ages.
Organizers describe the Apple Harvest Festival as one of the largest and longest-running fall festivals in the Northeast, typically drawing more than 100,000 people over its two weekends.
