Scary Tales Sought By Southington Library
The Southington Public Library this month is hosting its inaugural 'Spooky Southington Writing Contest,' just in time for Halloween.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — If you have a creative flair for scaring the you-know-what out of somebody, the Southington Public Library wants to hear from you.
Since Oct. 1, the library has been accepting entries for its inaugural Halloween "Spooky Southington Writing Contest," which is for library patrons of all ages.
The deadline to submit entries is Saturday, Oct. 21.

There are some basic ground rules, that likely would exempt, say, Steven King from submitting an entry.
They are: The story must be set in Southington; They must be a minimum of two sentences and a maximum of 10 pages; and stories shouldn't contain excessive foul language or gore.

The goal is a fun, scary story — not something that will spawn nightmares and therapy sessions.
Stories can be submitted online and library judges will announce winners in the days leading up to Halloween.
