Scuffle Over 911 Call Lands Southington Man With Charges: Police

A scuffle over a 911 call involving a man, a child and a dog left the man with charges, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A scuffle over a 911 call involving a man, a child and a dog who was not the man's best friend landed a Soutington resident with three criminal charges, police said.

According to a police report, Michael Rosa, 46, of the Plantsville section of Southington, was involved in a dispute with a juvenile on Thursday.

During the dispute, the juvenile started to call 911, but Rosa allegedly pushed the juvenile from behind and pulled the juvenile’s hair in an attempt to get the phone away from the juvenile and prevent the call to 911, according to a report.

The juvenile had soreness in a leg and Rosa sustained a small laceration on his foot as a result of a bite from a dog during the incident.

Rosa was charged with risk of injury to a minor, third-degree assault and interfering
with an emergency call, police said.

He was held overnight on a $25,000 bond and was to to appear in Bristol Superior Court on Friday, according to a report.

The juvenile was not named in the report because of age, police said.
