A robbery was taking place in Plantsville, authorities said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Several Southington schools entered ‘secure mode’ for a short time late this morning.
But it was all over in about an hour at about 11:10 a.m., school officials said.
Plantsville Elementary, Derynoski Elementary, Alta, Strong and Kennedy Middle School were all placed in secure school mode, according to the Superintendent’s office.

It was because police notified district officials that a ‘person of interest’ was in the Plantsville area of town, school officials said. Police said at noontime that was someone holding up a nearby gas station.
Classes continued as scheduled, but no one was allowed to enter or leave the buildings during secure status.
