SHS Drama Club Prepares for an Impressive Les Miserables

Les Miserables to open in March

The Southington High School Drama Club is in final preparations for its biggest weekend of the year. On the weekend of March 9 and 10, the award winning drama club will bring Les Miserables to life on their high school stage. About 100 students will be involved in the production between cast, tech crew and orchestra. This is a very ambitious and exciting production for the group and rehearsals started in the beginning of November.
For the students themselves, being able to perform in Les Miserables means a lot. Senior Julia Kahl says, "Being a part of a show that is so well known gives my cast members and me such a drive to put on something amazing. People come in with expectations and I think it gives us such a huge motivation to perform something special and something people will remember.”
For 30 seniors, this will be their last drama club production. Many of these performers have been together since elementary school, and their cast chemistry is obvious. Senior Zac Thomas expressed , “I have worked with my directors since I was 12 years old. They watched us grow up, and now we get to watch their kids grow up. It's a bittersweet show, but because of that it makes it so unforgettable and special."
Les Miserables will be performed at the Southington High School Auditorium on March 9 and 10. Performances are at 7:30p each night, with a 3p matinee on March 10. Admission is $10 for students and $15 for adults. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
