Snow Forecast Prompts Changes to School Schedule, Parking Rules in Southington

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Due to the expected winter storm and possible snowfall accumulations, Southington schools will be closed Thursday and an on-street parking ban is in effect.

The parking ban will start on Thursday, at midnight and end at 10 a.m. on Friday, police said.

The ban is designed to make is earlier for crews to clear roadways, police said.

Owners of illegally parked cars can be subject to a $10 fine, police said.

In addition to the ticket, illegal parking could lead to the vehicle being and towed at the owner’s expense, police said.
