Southington Starts Leaf Pickup, What You Need To Know
Southington crews are already roaming around town to pick up piles of fall leaves, with regular neighborhood pickups slated for next week.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Local officials have released their plan for fall leaf collection now that the symbols of autumn are, now, tumbling downward.
Southington road crews Monday, Oct. 28, started roaming around town and picked up some of the largest leaf piles already.
Next week, the town will begin regular leaf pickups in different zones in town, with a different zone seeing their leaves picked up each week in November.

The town has released the schedule via its town website/social media pages and there are four different zones of Southington slated for pickup.
Local officials said only leaves will be picked up and residents should ensure there are no grass clippings, dead flowers/plants/shrubs, sticks, brush, and rocks.

Those, town officials said, can damage the leaf collection equipment that will be utilized by town work crews
Any piles that have items that don't include leaves will not be picked up.
The leaves should be placed along the front of a property only.
Because some trees drop their leaves later, Zone 1 addresses slated to be picked up the week of Nov. 4 will have their leaves picked up, again, on Monday, Dec. 2.
