Southington 4th Grader Builds Hope One Brick at a Time
Kids and Adults Join Brick Building Challenge to Support the American Cancer Society

Ella Maliga, a Southington 4th grader, decided to help others during these uncertain times by building hope alongside the American Cancer Society through the first-ever Brick Masters For A Cure, a virtual brick building competition.
People of all ages from across the Northeast are helping attack cancer just like Ella. The Brick Masters For A Cure Challenge provides an opportunity for registered participants to turn play into support of the Society by using commercially-available plastic bricks to build, complete, and photograph or video record a masterpiece that reflects the theme determined by ACS.
To compete in one of five categories and to have the theme of the Master Challenge revealed, participants were required to donate or raise a minimum of $100 by May 22. Prior to the deadline, Ella raised over $200 and counting by asking friends and family to support her efforts in helping cancer patients who need the American Cancer Society now more than ever.

Ella is creative and loves to build. The Brick Masters For A Cure Challenge gave her an opportunity to do something she enjoys while helping raise money for the American Cancer Society, a cause dear to the Maliga family as her mother Alexis is an employee of the organization.
The Brick Masters For A Cure Challenge will incorporate the following brick bulling levels:

The American Cancer Society’s mission matters more than ever. Cancer patients are among the most vulnerable when it comes to COVID-19. The needs of people facing cancer continue and so does our work. Funds raised help the American Cancer Society continue with cancer research, our 24/7 helpline, and services offered to patients so they get the care and support they need where we can.
