Southington Advances to Class LL Softball Finals
The Blue Knights erupted for six runs in the fifth inning to turn back defending champion Cheshire in the semifinals Thursday.

STRATFORD, CT — Thursday night's Class LL semifinal matchup between Southington and Cheshire at DeLuca Field contained no scoring, with the exception of one inning.
That inning, the fifth, saw the Blue Knights cross the plate six times, then the Rams got on the scoreboard on a two-run home run by Abby Abramson. Other than that, opposing pitchers Kara Zazzaro and Abramson posted zeroes, with Zazzaro striking out the final three batters to preserve a 6-2 victory and yet another Southington berth in the championship game.
Sixth-seeded Southington (22-2) will meet No. 9 Trumbull (20-5) in the title matchup Saturday at West Haven High School. Gametime is slated for 7 p.m.
