Need A Warm Place In Southington? There Are Places To Go
The Town of Southington this week announced warming center plans for the upcoming cold snap expected Thursday through Saturday.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Baby, it's about to be cold outside ... really cold.
As a result, Southington officials this week announced plans for potentially life-saving warming centers where folks in need of such services can go.
Temperatures toward the latter part of the week are forecast to be in the single digits, with brisk winds expected to plunge wind-chill factors dangerously below zero, in many cases by double digits below zero.

The following are places in Southington where folks can get warm:
• The Southington Public Library is a designated warming center from noon on Thursday, Feb. 2, until 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4.

Its hours are Thursday, noon to 8 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The library is located at 255 Main St., Southington.
• The Calendar House Senior Center, 388 Pleasant St, is also a warming center on Thursday and Friday.
Its hours are Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
• Whenever those two locations are closed, those needing warmth can go to the Southington Police Department, 69 Lazy Lane.
Anyone in need of shelter or transportation to a shelter is urged to call 2-1-1 to get connected with United Way of Connecticut and Connecticut’s network of shelters.
