Southington Apple Fest Opens Saturday After Friday Cancellation
Friday's deluge prompted officials to close the festival on Friday, with the major town event opening at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — The annual Southington Apple Harvest Festival is the town's biggest event and something folks wait for all year long.
But thanks to Friday's daylong deluge, they'll have to wait an extra day as Friday's festival activities were canceled.
Festival organizers announced the closing late Friday morning.

The event — which features food, fun, games, vendors and entertainment in the Southington Town Green area — will open at 1 p.m. Saturday, giving the area plenty of time to dry out.
Then, the event will continue Oct. 1, then resume next weekend from Oct. 6-8.

Highlights include a fireworks show on Saturday, July 30, as well as a parade on Sunday, Oct. 1.
