Southington Apple Fest Vendor Reports Theft: Police

Police are investigating reports that a vendor's cash, phone, credit cards and ID were stolen from a vehicle during the event.

SOUTHINGTON, CT —A vendor at the ongoing Southington Apple Harvest Festival reports that her business' earnings, along with her iPhone, credit cards and ID, were stolen there.

The Southington Police Department Wednesday said the incident was reported at about 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30.

Police said the owner of the Thai Jasmine vendor booth told officers that cash, her iPhone, credit cards and Connecticut ID were taken from the front seat of a vehicle on site.

According to the owner, a short white female was asking her questions in an apparent attempt to distract her, police said.

Meanwhile, a second suspect entered the owner's unlocked vehicle, stealing a bag containing those items, police said.

Police said the owner's family working to get information to track the stolen phone, but no progress has been made.

The SPD, meanwhile, is investigating the incident.

"As of the time of the complaint, there were no witnesses, and nothing suspicious was reported around the vehicle," wrote police Wednesday morning.

The Southington Apple Harvest Festival, which started Saturday after being closed due to bad weather Friday, resumes Friday and continues to Sunday, Oct. 8.

It takes place in the Southington Town Green area.
