Southington Assault Incident Leads to Charges

A man was assigned a $50,000 bond on an assault case, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Naugatuck man had a $50,000 bond put on his case after an assault incident.

The incident took place on Aug. 7 and the suspect was arrested on Saturday, police said.

According to the Southington Police Department blotter, Daniel Akinsyana, 27, of Highland Avenue, Naugatuck, was charged with second-degree assault, interfering with an officer and second-degree false statement.

A warrant had been issued for his arrest after a dispute at the local Motel 6. He allegedly struck another person in the head with an ashtray, causing injury, police said.

He was to appear in court on Monday, according to police.
