The Southington Education Foundation is hosting its annual 'Trivia Bee' on Wednesday evening.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — If anyone has ever told you that you know too much mindless trivia, there's a chance in Southington to use that knowledge for a good cause.

The Southington Education Foundation is hosting its annual "Trivia Bee" on Wednesday evening, Oct. 26, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Cadillac Ranch Restaurant, 45 Jude Lane, Southington.

This is not just some night playing trivia in a bar.

Rather, it's a trivia fund-raiser pitting teams and individuals against one another in a fun game that raises money to help educate the town's schoolchildren.

"Past Spelling and Trivia Bees have raised thousands of dollars which allow the SEF to fund grants and programs that benefit Southington children," reads an announcement of the event posted online. "The Trivia Bee is one of the foundation’s major fundraisers."

The foundation is a separate, nonprofit entity from the Southington Board of Education, but its mission is to raise funding to pay for various educational programs and initiatives that might not be funded through traditional taxpayer means.

Tickets for the benefit are $25 per person and it includes food, drinks and game participation.

In addition, Halloween costumes are allowed at this family-friendly event and there is actually a "best costume" contest.
