SOUTHINGTON, CT — Demand has been so high for the services of the Southington YMCA that it is restricting use to just Southington-Cheshire Community YMCA members at the Southington site.

The policy, announced Monday by YMCA officials, means that members of neighboring YMCAs, who are usually allowed to use Southington, will not be allowed to do so "during peak usage times."

Southington's YMCA facility is at 29 High St., with a Cheshire facility located at 967 S. Main St., Cheshire. Other YMCA-operated facilities are also located in Southington, including Camp Sloper.

"This is being done to ensure that members and guests of our Y have better access to equipment, classes, and all of our facilities," wrote the YMCA in an announcement.

Those peak usage times are as follows:

• Weekends: Saturday and Sunday after noon.

The YMCA said those restrictions will be in place through March 31.

"If you plan to visit a neighboring Y, please call first to ensure they do not have similar restrictions, as this is the busiest time for most Y's," wrote the YMCA.
