Southington-Cheshire YMCA Seeks $6K To Reach Milestone Goal
The Southington-Cheshire YMCA last month raised $94K during its annual 'Sloper Plunge' fundraiser and it seeks $6K more to get to $100K.

SOUTHINGTON/CHESHIRE, CT — The Southington-Cheshire Community YMCA is only a few thousand dollars short of a major fundraising milestone regarding its recent Sloper Plunge.
Last month, community members from both towns — along with YMCA staff — jumped into the pond at Camp Sloper as part of a special fundraising event to raise cash so kids of all socioeconomic demographics can attend summer camp at the Southington facility this year.
When the figures were tabulated, the amount of money raised was $94,000, according to the YMCA.

That, according to the "Y," is close enough to $100,000 that the organization is making one final donation push to get the endeavor over the hump.
"This year's Sloper Plunge raised over $94,000 to provide meaningful day camp experiences to youth and teens in both Southington and Cheshire this summer," wrote the YMCA.

"While this total is amazing, we would love to break $100K on this event to help send as many kids to summer camp as possible and ensure NO CAMPER IS LEFT BEHIND! Can you help us break $100K?"
Donations will help provide more than 150 camp sessions at YMCA Camp Sloper, Naciwonki Summer Adventures, and YMCA Camp Quinnipiac to families in need from our communities.
As an inspiration, the YMCA also posted a video on YouTube of the 2024 event last month, showing folks freezing while they took the plunge.
