Southington Cops Add Charges on Suspected Car Thief

The case dates back to Aug. 6, when a a 2011 Infiniti with an approximate value of $20,000​ was reported stolen.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington police have added more charges to a suspected car thief, a report indicates.

On Jan. 19 Osvaldo Vellon, 18 of New Britain, was presented at Bristol Superior Court on an arrest warrant, police said.

Vellon was charged with second-degree larceny, police said.

Vellon remained was incarcerated on convictions for previous offenses in different jurisdictions, police said.

The case dates back to Aug. 6, when a a 2011 Infiniti with an approximate value of $20,000 was reported stolen from a driveway on Minthal Drive in Southington, police said. The vehicle was stolen overnight, police said.

At the time of the theft the vehicle was unlocked and a key fob was in the center console, police said.

The car was recovered in New Britain, police said.

Evidence from within the vehicle was matched to Vellon, police said.
