Southington Cops Corral Suspected Heroin Dealer at Dunkin' Donuts

Two warrants for his arrest had been issued, police said.

SOUTHINGTON — Police said they have arrested a heroin dealer who was operating in town.

During the month of May, the Southington Police Department Special Investigations Unit received a tip that Stephen Micalizzi, 35, of Southington, was selling heroin locally, according to a police report.

Police were able to make two controlled purchases of heroin were from Micalizzi and two arrest warrants were issued for him pout of Bristol Superior Court, according to a police report.

On Tuesday at 6:04 p.m., police made contact with him in the parking lot of the 1843 Meriden Waterbury Turnpike Dunkin' Donuts and arrested him, according to a police report.

After Micalizzi was handcuffed, he turned and ran away from an officer, but the officer caught up to Micalizzi after a short chase and he was "secured" in the rear of a cruiser, according to a police report.

Officers located a straw containing a white powder residue hidden in a cigarette pack during the investigation that tested positive for cocaine, according to a police report.

Micalizzi was charged with two counts of the sale of heroin and was held on a $100,000 court-set surety bond on each warrant and was to appear in court on Wedneday, police said.

The warrants are sealed and no further information is being released.

In addition to the warrants, Micalizzi was charged with interfering with a police investigation, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, police said.
