Southington Cops: Man Accused of Choking 'Victim' in Bed

The man was arrested this week.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Waterbury man is accused of choking a woman while she was still in bed

On Monday at about 3:45 a.m., Ashami Currry, 26 of Waterbury, was arrested at his residence after a domestic Violence investigation from earlier in the morning on Darling Street.

Curry was taken into custody without incident and transported to Southington where he
was processed and held on a $10,000 bond.

Curry was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree strangulation and second-degree breach of peace.

Curry is accused of going to the victim's residence and allegedly assaulted the victim while the
victim was lying on a bed. During the assault, Curry allegedly grabbed the victim by the neck and choked the victim, police said.

Curry fled the scene prior to police arriving and he was later located in Waterbury, police said.

The victim had visible injuries and refused medical attention at the scene, police said.
