Update: Southington Crash Kills Local Man

A motorist was killed in a one-car accident Tuesday in Southington, according to police.

Officers responded to the scene at 845 Mount Vernon Road shortly before 5 p.m., police said.

Bruce Belanger, 52, of Southington was driving his 2003 Chevrolet Impala north on the road when it veered to the right and struck a mail box.

The vehicle continued to run through the front yard of 855 Mount Vernon Road where it came to a rest after striking a tree.

Medical assistance was provided at the scene and Belanger was transported to The Hospital of Central Connecticut at Bradley Memorial. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
