The Southington Dirt Pile Belongs To The State
DOT admits to putting it off I-84, but says it is temporary.

SOUTHINGTON, CT - OK here's the deal with that big pile of dirt by the Interstate 84 Exit 30 interchange.
It's the DOT's.
And it's a temporary stockpile of excess earth excavated from the at $330 million highway re-widening project a few miles west in Waterbury, state officials told the Hartford Courant Tuesday.

Said state Department of Transportation didtrict engineer John Dunham, "As we dig our way through the project, we have a serious amount of earth to put someplace for future re-use."
