SOUTHINGTON, CT — The community is rallying in support of a Southington family that lost its home in a fire on Monday night.

The fire was at a home on East Johnson Avenue, authorities said. A teen up for a snack discovered the fire and alerted family members, who managed to get out, authorites said. The home was destroyed, as well as the belongings inside, and the family lost a cat, they added.

Fire officials on Tuesday said anyone wishing to donate to the family can do so via Southington Community Services, 91 Norton St. or 900 East Johnson Ave. Gift cards are needed due to lack of storage space, fire officials said.
