Southington FD Delivers Holiday Cheer

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Local firefighters recently delivered more than just safety for the local community, they delivered love in the spirit of the holidays.

One of the Southington Fire Department's annual traditions is to help Southington Community Services get folks in need locally the holiday gifts requested.

In the words of the SFD, "the holiday tradition continues."

Friday, the SFD posted images of firefighters showing up at peoples' homes with boxes of cheer, all with a smile on their faces.

The SFD has been providing delivery service for Southington Community Services Holiday Gift Program for decades.

It featured both on-duty and off-duty members taking gifts to 231 recipients Friday morning.

Southington Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 2033 also delivered three truck loads to gifts to support Southington families, according to the SFD.

Southington Community Services thanked local firefighters for their efforts helping local residents, especially homebound senior citizens.

"Thank you SFD for continuing the tradition of delivering to our seniors," wrote Southington Community Services.

"We wouldn’t be able to accomplish this holiday program without your assistance. Thank you for all of your help this year and all that you do for our community."
