Southington Firefighters Deliver Holiday Cheer To Less Fortunate

SOUTHINGTON, CT — In between chasing fires and tending to accidents, the Southington Fire Department this month did something else.

They made peoples' holiday seasons more brighter.

According to the SFD Wednesday, members made a total of 244 special deliveries of gifts to people in need through the Southington Community Services department.

Usually, when a fireman comes knocking at your door, it's not a good thing.

But for these families, it was a holiday-saving visit that members were proud to make, they said.

"We’re proud to continue a decades long tradition of delivering hundreds of gifts for the Southington Community Services holiday gift program," wrote the SFD.

In addition, SFD officials said, members also delivered two truck loads of toys to Southington Community Services that were collected throughout December.

"Our sincerest thanks for all of the support we receive for our community outreach programs," wrote the department Wednesday.
