Southington FD Probes House Fire
One person was rescued from the burning structure, according to the Southington Fire Department Tuesday.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — The local fire department said Tuesday morning it is investigating a blaze at a Plantsville residence that required firefighters to help a resident there escape.
According to the Southington Fire Department, the blaze was at 72 Tunxis Path, which is located in the Plantsville section of town.
The SFD said the department received a 911 call at about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, from the resident there about the smell of smoke in the building.

Firefighters were called and they assessed the situation.
"Upon the arrival of the shift commander, the resident needed assistance in exiting the building and was assisted by Ladder 1’s crew to safety," wrote the fire department Tuesday. "While crews were investigating, the fire was discovered in the rear of the building."

According to Southington Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 2033, the fire, initially, was not visible, but upon further investigation, the blaze was found in the walls and the attic of the house.
Once the blaze was found, mutual aid was called, with departments from Bristol, Meriden, and all Southington units being called to the scene.
Meanwhile, firefighters from Plainville, Cheshire, and New Britain provided town coverage as Southington fire resources were at the scene of the structure fire.
With the help of several departments, the SFD said the blaze was extinguished and it is now under investigation by the Southington Fire Marshal's Office.
No injuries were reported.
"We would like to thank all the agencies that assisted," wrote the SFD.
Southington Fire Department Chief Eric Heath said Tuesday the house suffered "minor-to-moderate damage isolated to one part of the home."
He said the occupant stayed with friends overnight.
