Southington FD Seeks More Volunteers To Join Ranks
Southington Vol. Fire Department announces push this month to have more volunteers. Those interested can visit any firehouse on Mondays.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — With a mix of career and volunteer firefighters, the Southington Volunteer Fire Department is always looking for a few more hands to save lives and property.
Which is why they're inviting the public to, simply, drop in at any firehouse on Monday nights to inquire about volunteer opportunities.
According to an announcement posted on the town's website earlier this month, folks and drop by from 7 to 9 p.m. every Monday night to inquire.

The main Southington Fire Department headquarters is at 310 N. Main St. in town, with multiple firehouses throughout town as well.
Other stations that can be visited included Southington Fire Department Co. 5 at 72 River St. and Engine Co. 2 in Plantsville at 128 W. Main St.

According to the fire department, there are some fringe benefits to being a volunteer firefighter outside of knowing you're serving your community and saving lives.
Those include a pension plan, tax abatements up to $2,000, Town of Southington health insurance at the COBRA rate and life insurance, among other benefits.
