Southington FD Uses Lake Compounce To Battle Pesky Brush Fire

With the area amid a long stretch of dry weather, firefighters had to battle a blaze for two hours overnight Thursday into Friday.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The recent spate of dry weather and a lack of rain likely played a role in a pesky brush fire that kept the Southington Fire Department busy.

According to the SFD Friday, firefighters spent two hours overnight Thursday into Friday battling the blaze.

Firefighters said it was in an open field on Mt. Vernon Road across from Welch Road.

To deal with the fire, the department's brush fire vehicle was set up along Lake Compounce, which is located in Southington and Bristol.

The amusement park's lake was used to get water for the fire.
