Southington FD Will Visit Your Home BEFORE A Fire
The Southington Fire Department's 'Community Risk Reduction Program' allows folks to learn of their residence's fire risks ahead of time.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Firefighters will rush to your home should it catch fire in a bid to save property and lives.
But through a program with the Southington Fire Department, firefighters will arrive at your home at a much slower pace and help ensure they never have to rush there.
According to the SFD, its "Community Risk Reduction Program" (CRR) has prevented tragedy on several occasions.

"CRR is a process to help communities find out what their risks are and develop a plan to reduce the risks viewed as a high priority," wrote the SFD.
"In Southington, we’ve identified ensuring all homes are protected with smoke and carbon monoxide detectors is the most effective way to reduce global risk."

To have a firefighter visit your residence and assess its fire risk, residents can call 860- 621-3202.
From there, the SFD will gather your information and schedule an appointment around your availability.
"Our personnel will visit your home at the time of your choosing, conduct a safety survey and assist you in ensuring your home is fire-safe," wrote the SFD.
Basic actions often recommended include changing batteries and adding or replacing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
"At the conclusion of the visit, we can assure you’ll have a much better understanding of how to keep you and your loved ones safe," wrote the SFD.
