Southington To Fill Dump Truck Full Of Food

The local American Legion Auxiliary is hosting a food drive on Nov. 19 for Southington Community Services.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — With a motto like "Go Big or Go Home," there's no doubt the organizers of a special holiday food drive in Southington are serious about the cause.

How serious? They're looking to fill a large dump truck full of non-perishable food for Southington Community Services' food bank.

Sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, Kitonic Unit 72 in Southington, the event will take place Sunday, Nov. 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Southington Drive-In, 995 Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike.

There, the community will fill up a Town of Southington dump truck full of food to replenish the shelves.

"They need our help. Shelves are very low," wrote event organizers in an announcement. "Help us help Southington families in need."
