Southington FD Giving Out Christmas Cheer — Big Time
Santa Claus will be at Plantsville Station No. 3 later this month, while the SFD is collecting toys until Dec. 19.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington's bravest are already getting into the Christmas spirit, big time, with a special event later this month as well as conducting a season-long drive to help the less fortunate.
From now until Monday, Dec. 19, the Southington Fire Department is conducting a holiday toy drive to help out cash-strapped families this holiday season.
It is hosting two collection sites at SFD fire stations: 310 N. Main St. and 130 W. Main St.

The department is asking folks to donate new and gently used toy that will go to the Southington Community Center, which will then distribute them to those who could use some holiday cheer this season.
Meanwhile, locals might want to mark their calendars for Saturday, Dec. 10, when the SFD will host Santa Claus in the Plantsville section of town.

Children and their families will be able to meet the jolly elf from noon to 2 p.m. at the SFD's 35 Clark St. site, Station No. 3, in the Plantsville section of town.
Snacks and drinks will be provided as well and families can have their pictures taken with St. Nick before he embarks on his annual journey worldwide to deliver Christmas cheer.
