Southington Firefighters Deliver Holiday Cheer Tuesday
Thanks to SFD efforts, children and need, as well as disabled/elderly residents, will have a bright holiday weekend.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Being a firefighter is more than just putting out blazes and tending to accidents.
It's about serving your community when you're not tending to the community's worst days.
That was clear Tuesday when holiday benevolence efforts culminated with what the SFD called its "Day of Giving."

According to the SFD, hundreds of toys collected by Southington Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 2033 were delivered to Southington Community Services.
Those toys will help brighten up the holidays for local children in need who, otherwise, might not be enjoying the best of holiday weekends.

Later, firefighters went out and delivered gifts for 240 elderly and disabled Southington residents.
In doing so, fire department members thanked those who helped them along the way.
"Thank you to all who have supported the annual Toy Drive and Community Services gift donations," wrote the SFD.
