Southington Firefighters Knock Down House Fire Wednesday: UPDATE

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington firefighters quickly contained a fire Wednesday afternoon at a home on Berlin Street after flames on the exterior of the building created smoke conditions inside.

The Southington Fire Department was dispatched at 1:32 p.m. to 226 Berlin St. for a reported fire on the side of a house with smoke inside the structure.

First-arriving crews confirmed the fire and deployed a hose line to the left side of the home to extinguish the exterior flames, according to the SFD.

A second hose line was stretched into the residence as firefighters overhauled the first floor to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and prevent further extension.

The department thanked the Bristol Fire Department for assisting at the scene. The Cheshire Fire Department and Plainville Fire Department provided station coverage while Southington crews responded to the incident.

The fire department did not report any injuries or provide information on the cause of the fire.
