Southington Grapplers Qualify for State Open

The Blue Knights had an individual champion and seven other placewinners at the Class LL championships.

TRUMBULL, CT — Eight wrestlers from Southington High School will be competing in the State Open next weekend, following impressive performances in the Class LL championships at Trumbull High School.

The Blue Knights had an individual champion and seven other placewinners, finishing fourth in the division with 179.5 team points.

Danbury won its second straight Class LL title, and 19th overall, compiling 272.5 points to easily outdistance Xavier's 191. Newtown was third with 181.

The State Open will begin Friday, Feb. 26 at 4 p.m. at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.
