See Who Is Helping Southington Community Services
The Southington Community Services Department, which helps folks through economic hardship, has been the beneficiary of generosity.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — When times become tough for anybody, Southington Community Services is always there to help folks pick up the pieces of economic and life hardship.
And, in recent weeks, community groups, organizations and businesses have been there for the town agency at 91 Norton St., Plantsville, all sorts of items to help this special department have the backs of those in need.
For example, Southington Community Services reports that in recent weeks:

• Liberty Bank donated 195 pounds of non-perishable food to the food pantry.
• A 4-year-old girl named "Jaylee" donated four boxes of non-perishable food that came from her recent birthday party.

But, even better, the items donated were all the essentials needed for someone to make a birthday cake and celebrate a birthday, even if times are tough.
• The Lions Club of Southington donated 113 pounds of food.
• The Southington High School Key Club donated 83 pounds of food.
• Southington Girl Scout Daisy Troop 66259 donated "birthday bags" to help folks have birthday parties. And, they even helped in the food pantry and organized toys.
• The Zion Lutheran Church donated 585 pounds of non-perishable food.
Southington Community Services keeps a very detailed Facebook page that chronicles who is donating to the cause and, thankfully, the posts are plenty.
