Southington To Host Budget Workshop Next Week, Invites Public Input

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The temperatures are not the only thing heating up in Southington.

So is the budget season.

The Southington Board of Finance will hold its third of four budget workshops on Wednesday, March 18, at 6:30 p.m. at Southington Town Hall, 75 Main St., according to Town Manager Alex Ricciardone.

Ricciardone said the workshop is part of the board’s ongoing review of the town’s proposed budget and is intended to help members work toward decisions and recommendations that will later be sent to the Southington Town Council, which has the final decision on town spending.

While the session is an official public meeting, Ricciardone said the workshop format will be more informal than a typical board meeting.

“The workshop will be conducted in a round-table format, providing an opportunity for residents to participate in the discussion,” Ricciardone said.

During the session, the board of finance members will review budget items and discuss spending proposals as they continue evaluating the town’s financial plan.

The board has specifically invited residents to attend the meeting to ask questions or offer suggestions about the proposed budget.

“All meetings are open to the public,” Ricciardone said, encouraging residents interested in learning more about the town’s finances or sharing their perspective to participate.

The March 18 session is the third of four scheduled budget workshops as the board of finance works through the proposals before making formal recommendations to the town council.

Residents can review the proposed budgets in advance online, including the town manager’s proposed budget and the board of education’s proposed budget.
