Southington To Host Two Voter Registration Events

The League of Women Voters Sept. 1 and Sept. 10 will host voter registration events at the Southington Stop & Shop.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Summer's weather has been hot, but — soon — the political season will be heating up now that the Aug. 9 primaries are over.

Starting in September, Southington will be hosting two special League of Women Voters New Britain Area events aimed at registering new voters and educating the public about the importance of exercising your democratic rights.

Earlier this month, the League announced two registration events for September:

• One is on Thursday, Sept. 1, and it will be at the Stop & Shop on North Main Street from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m.

• The second one will be on Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Stop & Shop on North Main Street from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m.

In addition to registering to vote, something seen as key as the 2022 mid-term elections come up this November, the League will be collecting school snacks and school supplies for area school districts and social service agencies.

"The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, has sought to improve our system of government and impact public policies through citizen education and advocay since 1920," wrote the League in its notice of the two events.
