Southington Leaders Want to Leave Fund Balance Alone
Officials have said they prefer not to use a portion of the town's unassigned fund balance to pay for operating costs.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The chairmen of the Town Council, Board of Education and Board of Finance have said they prefer not to use a portion of the town’s unassigned fund balance to pay for operating costs in the 2018-19 budget, the Record-Journal has reported.
The balance is $20.1 million.
The chairmen said they wanted to maintain the town's bond rating and did not want to use savings for an operating budget.
