Southington Library Has Busy August Planned For Adults
The Southington Public Library is hosting several programs for the older generations this month.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The local library is a popular place to bring children and families when the summer heat reaches the furnace level.
But the Southington Public Library in August also has several programs just for adults, with August being an especially busy month chock full of fun, engaging, and informational activities for the older generations.
And all programs are free, though some require registration in advance.

They all take place at the Southington Public Library, 255 Main St., Southington unless otherwise noted.

• Collage workshops at the Calendar House, 388 Pleasant St., Southington, on Monday, Aug. 5, and Monday, Aug. 12, at 10 a.m. Guests will create multi-media collages from found objects, photos, and other materials — all of them supplied. Registration in advance is required.
• Current affairs discussion with Bob Brown, a retired Southington High School teacher. His forum is Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 5 p.m. These are monthly conversations on current events. In August, he's expected to discuss the "mind-body connection" and the role of emotions. Registration in advance is required.
• Historical Fiction Book Club, Friday, Aug. 16, at 10 a.m. This month's book talk is "The Lioness." Registration is required.
• "Aging in Place: How to Remain In Your Home," Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 1 p.m. A local law firm will be on hand to discuss ways seniors can manage their assets so they can "age in place" and continue living in their homes.
• "DIY Succulent Terrarium," Friday, Aug. 23, at 3:30 p.m. Participants will build terrariums to decorate a deck or bedside. All materials supplied. Registration required.
• True Crime Book Club, Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 5:30 p.m. This month's book is "Little, Crazy Children: A True Crime Tragedy of Lost Innocence" by James Renner. It's about the 1990 murder of a 16-year-old girl. Books are available at the reference desk. Registration required.
