As Southington Library Move Continues, Online Resources Are Available

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington Public Library officials are currently working frantically to move into the town's new, state-of-the-art library.

As a result, the library has been closed since Nov. 18 and it is expected to reopen on Monday, Nov. 2.

But it doesn't mean folks have to stay in the dark when it comes to utilizing local library resources to quench their literary thirsts.

"While we transition to the new library building, you can still access digital resources through our website southingtonlibrary.org," wrote the library recently.

For example, "Libby" is an ad-free streaming service for library users to access ebooks, digital audiobooks, comics, and magazines with a Southington library card.

"You can stream titles with Wi-Fi or mobile data, or download them for offline use," wrote the library.

Meanwhile, "Hoopla Digital" is an ad-free streaming service for library users to access ebooks, audiobooks, music, and comics.

These titles, the library said, can be streamed with Wi-Fi or mobile data, or downloaded for offline use. Limit 3 items per month.

"Flipster" is a free digital magazine service accessible through your iPhone, Android device, laptop, or tablet. Explore, download, and read magazines any time!

"Kanopy" is an ad-free streaming service for movies, documentaries, foreign films, classic cinema, independent films, and educational videos that inspire, enrich and entertain.

Folks can stream Kanopy titles on a TV, computer, or mobile device. Limit 7 items per month.

"Universal Classes" offers in-depth courses on a wide range of subjects including accounting, computer training, medical billing, parenting, homeschooling, test preparation, and much more.
