Southington Man, 45, Charged With Sexually Assaulting Minor: Police
He will next appear in court June 16.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A 45-year-old local man was arraigned in court late last week on charges he sexually assaulted a minor back in 2017.
According to the Southington Police Department Monday, Daniel Checovetes, 45, of 216 Mount Vernon Road, Southington, was charged with three counts of second-degree sexual assault.
He was being held on $200,000 bond and he appeared in New Britain Superior Court June 2.

According to the SPD, at about 7:30 a.m. June 2, Checovetes turned himself in to local police for an active arrest warrant stemming from a complaint received by the SPD back in 2017.
The complaint alleges Checovetes had inappropriate contact with a juvenile that occurred over a period of years, resulting in the investigation.

According to online court records, all three counts charged to Checovetes are Class C felonies, with once incident happening in August 2015, one incident in May 2016 and another in June 2016.
His bond was reduced to $50,000, according to records, and he will next appear in court June 16, where the court is awaiting a plea from Checovetes.
