Southington Man Accused of Harassing Woman, Dog

He also has another case pending.

SOUTHINGTON — A local man is facing a harassment charge after police said he sent emails threatening to harm a woman and her dog, police said.

Thomas Smith, 31, of 25 Mountain View Rd., was charged with first-degree harassment, according to police records.

On Wednesday, Smith reportedly sent four emails to a woman he previously dated, threatening to harm her and her dog, said police spokesman Sgt. Jeffrey Dobratz said.

The woman told police Smith has stalked and threatened her in the past, he said.

Smith was arraigned at Bristol Superior Court on Thursday and is due in court again on Tuesday, according to court records. His bond was initially $10,000, but it was reduced in half during his arraignment, court records indicate.

Court records show he has not yet entered a plea.

Smith is also charged with breach of peace and criminal violation of a restraining order in a separate incident, according to court records.
